Simba Nyamukachi writes…Sunrise, e.tv’s news and actuality breakfast television show, reached a major milestone on 30 March when it celebrated four years on air. The show first premiered on 31 March 2008, replacing e.tv’s then flagship morning show Morning Edition (formerly The Toasty Show).

Nicholas Maphopha, Sunrise producer, stated that the show has evolved over the years to become an interactive news, sports and lifestyle breakfast television programme.

“Sunrise has moved away from being just a current affairs show to a more lifestyle informative platform that provides early morning television audiences with market reports, weather, sports, entertainment and lifestyle news,” he said.

To celebrate the milestone the Sunrise team spent the morning with the Smile Foundation and Ma Afrika Tikkun organisations dealing with facial abnormalities and youth development respectively.

“We thought that as we celebrate our day we ought to share stories of those less fortunate in the hope that potential donors and volunteers reach out to help these worthy Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs),” continued Maphopha.

Sunrise, which is hosted by Sindy Mabe and Stacey Holland, is broadcast from 6am to 8am every Monday to Friday on e.tv.
