Tsogo Sun has been a proud supporter of the Unogwaja Challenge since 2012. On Thursday, 21 May, in the early hours of the morning, 11 cyclists set off from the Southern Sun Waterfront hotel on their 10-day voyage to Pietermaritzburg where they will then run the ultimate human race, the Comrades Marathon, on the eleventh day.
Their goal is to raise R2-million in donations for charities supported by the Unogwaja Light Fund.
This year’s epic voyage has been extended to include the Unogwaja On Foot. Unogwaja founder, John McInroy, and Robert le Brun are walking the full 1660 kilometres over 30 days and will encourage people along the way to join in and be a part of the experience for as long or short a distance as they can.
“It has been inspirational to host and support the Unogwajas over the past four years and see them off on this brave and special journey. We are right behind them every step of the way as they follow their hearts across the country,” said Jeff Rosenberg, GM of the Southern Sun Waterfront hotel.
The Southern Sun Waterfront is one of the properties within Tsogo Sun’s portfolio of over 90 hotels and 14 casino and entertainment destinations throughout South Africa, Africa, the Seychelles and Abu Dhabi.
