The Society of the Golden Keys, recognisable to hotel guests all over the world by the cross keys worn on the lapel of the jacket of the head concierge, was formed in Great Britain in 1952. Sparingly awarded, the Golden Keys are symbols that recognise quality service and are worn only by those few who go beyond the call of duty. With strict conditions of membership, requiring proof of professional relationships with guests and work colleagues, Tsogo Sun is delighted that five of the eight active members in South Africa provides value to their guests every day.

“With an increasing emphasis on service delivery, we are very proud that Vera, who is also celebrating her 10th anniversary at Tsogo Sun this month, has been honoured for her perseverance, passion and clear understanding of service excellence,” says Andrew Davidson, general manager of Tsogo Sun’s InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport Hotel.

Jackson started her career at Tsogo Sun as a hotel school intern and spent a year as a customer services agent at a small airline. She returned to the InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport hotel as a sales, conference and banqueting co-ordinator and quickly progressed to head concierge. As one of the direct links with guests, the concierge largely carries the responsibility of the reputation of the hotel and, as such, it is vital that they provide professional service with integrity, coupled with local knowledge and impeccable recommendations.

“Being an airport hotel, 90% of our guests are international travellers. The prestigious Golden Key pin on Vera’s lapel provides them with a sense of certainty of the quality of information available and truly epitomises the world class service guests have come to expect at the InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport hotel,” concludes Davidson.

The InterContinental Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport Hotel is owned by ACSA and operated by Tsogo Sun, under franchise agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group IHG©, InterContinental©. It forms part of Tsogo Sun’s portfolio of over 90 hotels and 14 casino and entertainment destinations in South Africa, Africa, Abu Dhabi and the Seychelles.
