John joined HCI as chief executive officer in 1997. Prior to this he was a member of parliament and general secretary of the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union. He is chairman of e.tv, eMedia Holdings, Tsogo Sun Holdings and the HCI Foundation.

Kevin Govender

Kevin is the financial director of HCI. He joined the HCI group in 1997 where he has also held the position of company secretary and chief financial officer from 2001. He holds directorships in several HCI subsidiaries and is a trustee of the HCI Foundation. He was appointed to the HCI Board as an executive director in June 2009.

Yunis Shaik

B.Proc
Yunis was an attorney of the High Court and in private practice prior to joining HCI in 2014. He is a former deputy general secretary of the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union and a director of Workers’ College. He has served as a senior commissioner to the CCMA in KwaZulu Natal. He was appointed to the HCI Board in August 2005.

Mahomed Gani

Mahomed (Mac) Gani is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience in the accounting and audit profession. He was a founding partner of MSGM Masuku Jeena Inc., a partner of Saboor Gani & Co and a partner of PwC until 2013. He is a non-executive director on a number of boards including Basil Read Holdings Limited and Tsogo Sun Holdings and is on the investigating committee of the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors. He was appointed to the Board of HCI as non-executive director in August 2016.

Mimi Freddie Magugu

B.A. (Theology)
Freddie has been serving the community in East London as a pastor since 2006. Prior to this appointment he reached the position of national organising secretary for the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union and thereafter as a senior development manager at Unibank. He was appointed to the Board of HCI as a non-executive director in April 1998.

Moretlo Lynette Molefi

B.Sc., MB ChB
Moretlo is a businesswoman with interests in the health sector. Prior to this she was the director of the Telemedicine program at the Medical Research Council of SA; consultant for Aspen Pharmacare and COO of Safika Health. She currently serves as a board member of International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth and vice-president of SA Telemedicine Association. She was appointed to the board of HCI in December 2006.

Elias was the national organising secretary of the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union from 1990 to 1995. He subsequently served as CEO of AUTA (1996 – 2000), marketing director of Viamax Fleet Solutions, a subsidiary of Transnet (2001- 2005) and CEO of the Vukani Group (2006 – 2010). He served as chairman of Golden Arrow Bus Services for four years until 2010. He was appointed to the HCI Board in September 2010 as a non-executive director. He also serves on the board of Tsogo Sun Holdings, Vukani Gaming Corporation and eMedia Holdings. Elias was appointed as lead independent director of the company in March 2014‏.

Jabulani Geffrey Ngcobo

Jabu was the regional secretary for Africa of the International Textile Garment and Leather Workers Federation from 1999 to 2006, Prior to this appointment he held the position of general secretary of the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union for 6 years from 1994 to 1999. Jabu was appointed to the board of HCI as a non-executive director in October 2004. He also serves on the board of Tsogo Sun Holdings and HCI Coal.

Rachel Watson

Rachel currently holds a position as manager at a regional broadcaster. Prior to this appointment she was employed for 33 years within the clothing industry, serving as a trade union representative in various organisational positions for the last 14 years of her tenure. Rachel is presently an independent non-executive director of eMedia Holdings. She was appointed to the HCI Board in March 2014.
