Owning a brick-built house In KTC Is a dream about to become reallty for 50 families residing In the area.

An ongoing housing project launched two years ago called upon these families on Friday to celebrate their achievement of acquiring interest free funding from a local investment company. Accord- big to project facilitator Fikiswa Mahote this achievement has revived Khulani Housing Project. “We are here to celebrate our achievements and to thank HCI (Hosken Consolidated Investments)” said Mahote. “This Is not the end of the project as we are aiming at building a grand total of 250 houses. And at the same time create jobs for the unemployed residing In this area,” she added.

Great appreciation and excitement was shown by the beneficiaries of this project, as this achievement meant that the construction of their houses would soon be underway. One of the oldest beneficiaries of the project was wheeled to the hall to extend a word of appreciation to some of the stakeholders. Netti Ralasi lived in a shack in the area, but she is now the proud owner of an adequate house from this project.

Ward councillor Thembisile Ntamo promised an additional one million rand to the two and a half that the project has already received.

“I hope the Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool will add to the million that the councillor is giving,” said Ntamo in laughter. “I hope that this initiative will move to other communities as well and not only be a KTC thing. We can already see change in our community,” he added.

Addressing the audience, Housing MEC Qubudile Dyantyi said he will believe that Cape Town is a home to all when he sees everyone coming out of a proper home.

The ceremony ended at the home of Ralasi where Rasool and some of the dignitaries planted a tree to honour the occasion.
