54 ON BATH, A NEW BOUTIQUE HOTEL OPENS

54 on Bath, a boutique hotel that opened last week, Tuesday 10 July, brings an air of sophistication to the former digs of the Grace Hotel bought in October last year.

In October 2011, JSE-listed Tsogo Sun added the Rosebank node to their footprint through the acquisition of the Grace Hotel property and office buildings for R85m.

Africa’s hotels, gaming and entertainment operator, Tsogo Sun has 14 casinos and more than 90 hotels in South Africa, Africa and the Seychelles.

The company’s key shareholders are Hosken Consolidated Investments, an investment holding company, and SABMiller.

The remaining shareholding is held by various financial institutions and the general public.

Graham Wood, MD Tsogo Sun Hotels, says the company is excited about its new, “unique” offering.

“54 on Bath promises a distinctive guest experience with exceptional attention to detail in an intimate, vibrant and energetic environment -an offering that assures that the diverse needs of the discerning business and leisure traveller will be fulfilled,” Mr Wood says.

The hotel boasts 60 deluxe rooms, and 12 executive rooms. Tsogo Sun used the services of Dubai-based Brash Brands to determine the vision of the new hotel.

According to Wood, as a Tsogo Sun hotel, 54 on Bath will benefit from the group’s investment strategy, and will remain innovative and unique in years to come.

Although the local hotel industry has been hard hit by a combination of overcapacity and a drop in demand from travellers, the company in May reported a 39% rise in revenue to nine billion rand for the year ended March.

The hotel also links to the Mall of Rosebank through a bridge on the second floor.
