According to media reports the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) is strongly opposed to a plan in which one of their affiliates will have a stake in rolling out limited payout gambling machines in the Western Cape. The trade union federation says the machines will increase social problems. The licence was awarded to Hosken Consolidated Investments Limited -a company in which the South African Clothing and Textile Workers Union (Sactwu) has a significant stake.
