Fun, freebies and food are the essence of Hemingways Casino’s St Patricks Weekend

St Patricks has turned into a three day-long celebration at Hemingways Casino this year, with St Paddy’s-inspired festivities kicking off on Friday the 16th of March and continuing to Sunday the 18th of March 2012. According to the casino’s marketing manager, Neville Austin, spot prizes, live entertainment, authentic Irish cuisine at discounted prices and a fun guessing game form part of the St Patricks weekend festivities.

“The emphasis here this St Patricks weekend is all about fun, freebies and food,” he says.

Well known local artist, Kerry Hiles, will provide live entertainment on the casino floor between 9pm and 11pm every night. She’ll also, on the hour, randomly select a slot machine or table and dish out super spot prizes to the lucky person who happens to be playing there. Prizes include cash, gaming Freeplay, hotel restaurant vouchers, and movie tickets. In addition to these giveaways, the casino is also running a fun competition in which guests can stand a chance to win R5 000 worth of prizes for correctly guessing the number of gold coins in the Pot of Gold at the casino’s Club Desk. All visitors of the casino over the St Patricks weekend are encouraged to venture over to the Club Desk to enter their details and estimate. The person with the correct or closest guess wins the prize. The winner will be notified live on Algoa Fm on Tuesday the 20th of March 2012.

On the food and drink front, there will be various specials running including beer-battered fish with chips for R50; shamrock pie with chips and gravy for R22; shepherd’s pie and salad for R30; Irish coffee for R18; Guinness for R22 per can, and a special “green” draught for R12.
