Tsogo Sun reluctant to let go of Silverstar MERGER Tsogo Sun and the Competition Commission are set to square off in the Competition Tribunal next weelç with the gaming group opposing the commission’s recommendation that its merger with rival Gold Reef Resorts be made conditional on the sale of Silverstar Casino, due to concerns that the deal could lessen competition in Gauteng. While the commission has said that the merger presents no significant concerns throughout the rest of the country, Silverstar, in particular, offers a competitive alternative to Tsogo’s Montecasino. If Tsogo were allowed to keep Silverstar, it would control 51% of the market.
