TSOGO SUN SET TO RE-ENTER DUBAI MARKET

VENTURES AFRICA – JSE-listed hotel group, Tsogo Sun, is poised to again set up shop in Dubai after having identified that market as a “priority”, it emerged on Wednesday.

“One of the reasons we based our regional office in Dubai is to stay close to the market and stay on top of any opportunities that come up,” Tsogo Sun’s offshore operations director, Andrew Hosking, told HotelierMiddleEast.com.

The firm has not had operations in the Dubai market after its management contracts of two Dubai hotels, Al Manzil and Qamardeen, ended more than a year ago.

Early this month, Tsogo Sun opened a 353-room Southern Sun Abu Dhabi in the Emirates’ Tourist Club area in a move that shows the firm is eager to re-enter the market.

“We’ve looked at product offerings in Muscat and Jeddah in the past. In terms of large cities we would definitely consider those. Dubai is a priority,” HotelierMiddleEast.com quoted Hosking as having said.
