e.SAT AND DSTV COMBINE FORCES

The dust caused by the battle of the box has finally settled down!
e.sat, the sister business to freetg~air television channel e.tv, has announced that it will initiate its multi-channel strategy in 2008, with the launch of South Africa?s first independent 24-hour television news service on Multichoice?s DSTV.

The move by e.tv will finally foster a strategic partnership in order to develop a pan-African television business.

In the past few weeks there has been an ongoing debate about the operation of this new channel. Both etv and DSTV have finally agreed to work together. e.sat will then provide a variety of channels which will be carried on DSTV.

e.tv?s CEO, Marcel Golding, said, “e.news is our strongest brand. We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Multichoice to distribute a 24-hour e.news service on DSTV.”

Multichoice CEO Nob Letele said the channel will be an ideal complement to news channels like CNN and BBC World.

In addition to the 24-hour news channel, e.sat wifi produce a number of channels for DSTV in November 2008. Multichoice CEO Nob Letele says that e.sat will provide better service for South Africa.
