e.tv SEALS FREE TO AIR DEAL FOR SPRINBOKS V ENGLAND

This Saturday’s rugby test match between South Africa and England will be broadcast free to air on a delayed feed by South Africa’s e.tv after a deal was struck with SuperSport, the pay-TV network which holds the series rights.

The agreement follows the successful delayed broadcast by e.tv of the second test match between the rival countries. Happy Ntshingila, chief executive, SuperSport, said that last week’s sub-licensing of the broadcast rights to e.tv had gone smoothly and he looked forward to the same this weekend.

“We are pleased to again be working with SuperSport and are grateful to have concluded. Our transmission last weekend was a success and we are excited that South Africans will once again be able to watch the Springboks on national television this Saturday evening,” said Monde Twala, group head, e.tv channels division.

Public broadcaster South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) revealed last week it had failed to reach agreement with SuperSport to sub license the national rugby team’s forthcoming matches.

The third rugby test between South Africa and England will now be shown on SuperSport 1 and HD1 from 5pm, on SS4 at 6.45pm, and on e.tv from 10pm on Saturday 23 June.
