MORE REMOTE DISPLAY SCREENS FOR SA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS

Three Blind Mice Communications (TBM) has secured 34 new advertising screens at Johannesburg, Cape Town & Durban International Airports. TBM is a Digital Media Solutions Company which specialises in distributing advertising via satellite to remote display mechanisms. Owned by Hosken Consolidated Investments (HCI), a black empowerment company, it has been in operation since July last year with its head office in Johannesburg, representation in Durban and Cape Town, and a staff complement of 30. This new contract, awarded by the Airport Retail Concessions (ARC) Company, will link televisions in the airport retail sites in SA’s three major international airports; Johannesburg, Cape Town & Durban – to the TBM media network. All commercials will be encoded into high-quality DVD specification. The process is rather simple. TBM could produce the advertisement or use material provided by the customer. The visuals will then be encoded into DVD specification, distributed using scheduling software, sent via satellite and received by a server at the site. The advertisement will be disseminated to the various sites depending on the client’s requirements. TBM lists Mercedes Benz, Peugeot, SterKinekor, Acer, eTV and Intel as clients. TBM has 85 plasma screens operational including seven at Johannesburg International and two at Lanseria Airport. The acquisition of these new sites will result in 24 television screens being available at Johannesburg International Airport, seven at Cape Town and three at Durban International. These retail sites include CNA stores, Cosmic Candy and Sweets from Heaven. These new sites now give advertisers the opportunity to reach domestic travellers, which has been frequently requested.
