GOLDEN ARROW BATTELS VANDALISM

13 Oct Transport

The Golden Arrow Bus Service on Thursday said it was losing millions in revenue each year to vandalism and diesel theft in Cape Town.

City of Cape Town officials spent the morning inspecting public transport facilities across the peninsula.

The company’s François Meyer highlighted the many challenges facing public transport in Cape Town.

He said vandalism was becoming a widespread problem.

Over the past six months, six Golden Arrow buses that were severely vandalised had been permanently taken off the roads.

Meyer said on average close to 34 windscreens are replaced each month.

The theft of diesel was also becoming a major concern.

Meyer said criminals are now stealing fuel from buses while they at traffic lights.
