Most employees out of 119 companies who took part in a survey are unhappy with performance management and communication strategies at work, auditors Deloitte have found.
“Given the pervasive nature and impact of communication on the overall employment experience, this outcome highlights a huge opportunity for improvement,” said David Conradie, director of human capital at Deloitte following the release of the company`s Best Company to Work For study.
Employees were however generally positive regarding job satisfaction, management style, change management, values and culture.
These were some of the positive qualities that saw Wesbank, a division of First Rand Bank, emerge as the best large company to work for this year. Conradie could not give more details about why, saying they still had to convey data gathered to Wesbank before it could be made public.
The 119 companies surveyed were divided into large (2501 employees or more), medium (between 2500 and 301) and small (between 300 and 50). Wesbank came in ahead of 16 others in the large category.
Brandhouse Beverages emerged the best company in the medium-sized company category, beating 48 competitors.
Business Systems Group Africa was chosen as the best small company, ahead of 55 entrants.
