e.TV Ghana will in July, celebrate made in Ghana goods and services as a way to promote products and services made in Ghana by Ghanaians. The celebration will be under the theme “Promoting Local Industries, Services and Entrepreneurship for Sustained Development”. Spearheaded by ‘Awake’, e.TV’s flagship morning show, the month-long event is aimed at encouraging Ghanaians to patronize made in Ghana goods and services, and also to highlight the critical need to wean the country of its overdependence on everything “foreign”.
A number of activities have been scheduled for the month of July. From the 2-7 July, e.TV will undertake industry tours of selected Ghanaian companies and consultants to give viewers a first-hand insight into the operations and expertise of some of these companies and individuals. During the following week, 8 – 14 July, e.TV in collaboration with Silverbird, will hold the “Ghana classics” week. During this week, popularly-acclaimed old Ghanaian movies will be shown at the Silverbird cinemas. The week of July 16 to 20th will witness a celebration of Ghanaian Arts and Culture with an exciting night on July 20th at the Silverbird Cinema. Also, from July 23 – 31, the Silverbird cinemas will host “Ghanafest”, an exhibition of Ghanaian Products, Expertise and Services to climax the month-long activities.
JOT Agyeman, General Manager of e.TV noted that “There is a pervasive mentality among Ghanaians that goods, services and expertise from outside Ghana is of better quality; we want to use this month to drive home and expose our own products and people. This is the only way we can create jobs and develop the country”.
“We want to rekindle the national conversation and draw attention to the fact that our potential for national prosperity lies in ourselves. It is when we consciously support local businesses through patronage of their products, expertise and services that we can grow as a country”. Edward Boateng, Executive Chairman of Global Media Alliance added
