TSOGO SUN DELIVERS MOTHER'S DAY CHEER

In 2011 Capetonian Lynne Cumings started a Mother’s Day initiative in memory of her mother. In year one she donated one cake to the Cape Peninsula Organisation for the Aged but vowed to get more people and companies involved going forward.

In year two, with the support of the Kfm Breakfast Team, this grew to a donation of 150 cakes from Kfm listeners and other Capetonians and corporates. Support for the campaign in 2013 has been amazing, with around 3000 people in old age homes across the city acknowledged and treated to cake on Mother’s Day.

Following the appeal on Kfm for assistance, Tsogo Sun vowed to get involved to show appreciation for this integral, but often neglected, part of Cape Town’s society. Chefs from their Southern Sun The Cullinan, Waterfront and Cape Sun hotels joined forces to bake delicious cakes for over 1000 senior citizens. On Mother’s Day itself a Tsogo Sun group handed over cakes to the CPOA in Three Anchor Bay. Residents were entertained by a vibrant Tsogo Sun choir while enjoying this special celebration.

Tsogo Sun looks forward to supporting this wonderful initiative with Lynne and Kfm in 2014.
